THE ARCHITECTURE MUST CONFORM TO CONSISTENT COMPATIBLE COMMUNICATIONS. THE ARCHITECTURE MUST CONFORM TO CONSISTENT COMPATIBLE COMMUNICATION SCHEMES THAT ARE INTEROPERABLE AND CONSISTENTLY EVOLVABLE. THE CURRENT WIRELESS ARCHITECTURES ARE NOT STANDARDIZED NOR COMPATIBLE. ONE OF NASA S NEWEST AND HIGHLY ACTIVE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS IS THE ISS EXTERNAL WIRELESS COMMUNICATION (EWC) SYSTEM  SIMILAR TO A LOCAL AREA NETWORK IN SPACE. THE EWC IS AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT DESIGNED TO FULFILL THE HIGH DEMAND USAGE FOR ISS COMMUNICATIONS PAYLOAD CUSTOMERS. OPERATIONS OF THIS SYSTEM HAVE REVEALED NEWLY DISCOVERED COMPLEX ISSUES WHICH REQUIRES SOLUTIONS BASED ON THIS PROPOSAL RESEARCH. THIS WIRELESS APPROACH IS THE FOUNDATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE OF FUTURE CREWED AND VEHICLE ASSETS AS WELL  AND ITS EVOLUTION REQUIRES DEVELOPMENT IN A TESTBED TO CHARACTERIZE  MODEM TEST  AND RECOMMEND EVOLUTIONARY ARCHITECTURAL CHANGES. UNDERSTANDING AND VALIDATING THE TESTBED RESULTS WILL BE USED AS A BASIS TO INFUSE TECHNOLOGY RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE FOR SPACE DATA SYSTEMS (CCSDS)  AN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION COLLABORATING AMONG 27 NATIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPACE COMMUNICATIONS AND DATA HANDLING STANDARDS IN THE WORLD.
